Emir GCC Camels Race Final
The final of the long-established Emir GCC Camels Race is held at Alshahaniya Race Track in Doha, attracting a select crowd of wealthy camel owners to compete against each other every year.
Even though there is no gambling involved, there are various prizes for the winners and the race itself is an entertaining show for everyone.
For centuries camel racing has been the favourite sport of the kings throughout the Arab peninsula, and since the abolition of the use of children as jockeys, the sport has gained a more positive reputation worldwide. Thanks to a Swiss invention, today it is robot jockeys who attempt to persuade the animals to run in a straight line...

Qatar Masters
The PGA European Tour visits the Persian Gulf for the Qatar Masters. While the tournament is growing in importance every year, few of Europe's big guns make the trip.

This provides the perfect opportunity for the up-and-coming players to make their mark, and US$2 million. The PGA European Tour and its American counterpart, the PGA Tour, are the richest and most celebrated golfing competitions in the world.

While the lure of the dollar has enticed many players to the US, the European Tour remains an extremely lucrative alternative and now includes events as far afield as South Africa, Australia, Qatar, Taiwan and Hong Kong. For the European stars on the Tour there is more at stake than pure financial reward: the top 10 players are automatically selected for the European Team to play against the US in the Ryder Cup. Save winning one of the majors, competing in this competition is the pinnacle of a golfer's career.
